So, Wednesday was just another typical day for this Australian girl in Paris: croissant for breakfast, followed by strolling down the Champs Elysees; a visit to the Arc de Triumph, followed by Notre Dame; laying under the Eiffel Tower in the warm summer sunshine, eating crepes and basking in the beauty of the majestic tower and the frivolity of French and foreign holiday makers alike.

Sounds pretty much perfect, right?

Well, a leisurely stroll through the halls of the magnificent and famous Louvre Museum was the cherry on top of this already amazing day.

The parquet floors of the grand hall, the frescos on the ceilings, the grandiose architecture, the incredible works of art from all the classics, the breathtaking beauty of the paintings and sculptures…all of it was tres magnifique!

Tears welled in my eyes as I gazed upon the works of the masters, marveling at their creations of unmistakable devotion and passion for art, culture, history and life.

The reverence one feels when standing in front of a true masterpiece is a profoundly transforming experience, and the Louvre Museum certainly did not disappoint me.

I felt a deep sense of peace and respect as I wandered the halls, looking up, down and all around – an overload of beauty, grandeur, exquisiteness and history assaulting my senses – and I couldn’t help but think that this was the perfect date with the most perfect city in the world.
